About the Author

Jordan Rekve

Jordan Rekve is a storyteller from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Treaty 6 Territory. As a new father, he was inspired to create stories that carry meaning forward—stories children can grow with, return to, and recognize themselves within as they learn how to relate to others and the world around them.

His work is inspired by the Seven Sacred Cree Teachings—principles that guide how people live in relationship with one another, the land, and themselves. These teachings speak to love, respect, honesty, courage, truth, wisdom, and humility. Rather than being taught directly, they are often shared through story, reflection, and lived experience.

Above all, his work is guided by the belief that stories help children understand not only who they are, but how they can move through the world with care, honesty, and humility.
